The white strawberry, a tale of explorers
Do you know that the white strawberry was the first variety of cultivated strawberry, introduced to France by Amédée-François Frézier in 1714? This explorer brought plants back from Chile in the hold of his ship. Only 5 plants survived this crossing, and one of them was planted in Brest, a fertile land! At Savéol, we did not want to see this exceptional ancient variety disappear.
I have therefore set off in the footsteps of this great explorer, to keep history alive. The white strawberry is a seasonal product harvested from May to July. Its white flesh has a subtle and astonishing taste that is similar to that of pineapple. It is a rare and sought-after product, the production of which remains a secret.
